Fred Ripley asked:
"I see on the Bowser site that they are releasing what they call a
GS gon in two PRR nos. in mid-June. Does anyone have info about
how close this will be to a PRR class?"

Fred, not sure where you've been as the Bowser HO scale Class GS gon has
been on the market for over a decade. It is indeed a model of a Class GS
gon; unfortunately, for reasons known only to the manufacturer, the model is
a mishmash of different eras. It has the pre-Safety Appliance Act "wrong
side" arrangement of grab irons on the ends, but also has AB brakes. This
model matches no Class GS gon out of the box. However, it can be built into
a very nice model with some work. See Jim Hunter's article in the February
2000 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman, and Elden Gatwood and Jim Hunter's
articles in the November 2003 issue of TKM for more information on improving
this kit and the Sunshine and Funaro resin kits of this common car class.
