[PRR-talk] I need some info please on PRR Lines 8039

Mike,

   8039 was a class N2s USRA type 2-10-2 built in 1919 like was
mentioned already. The photo you supplied is how the loco looked when it
first arrived o the PRR. In 1925 the PRR converted these locos to class
N2sa which resulted in the addition of the  "Belpaire" firebox as found
on most other PRR class locos. I have a 1931 MP229 somewhere around here
and it will tell where any particual loco was assigned too. I am sure
when I find it it will say that 8039 was assigned to the flat lands of
Ohio somewhere, possibly the grand rap[ids area of Michigan. But
possibly further west. I will do some digging and let you known in a
bit....Gary
