Mike (ozzyrules92 at aol.com) asked:
"Ok, I dont understand the Pennsylvania Lines and PRR connection. <<snip>>
And what is the PRR and Pennsylvania lines connection between the two."

In 1870, PRR organized the Pennsylvania Company as a holding company for
"Lines West of Pittsburgh". Between 1871 and the period of USRA control
during WWII, the Pennsy was essentially run as two companies, and you will
see reference to "PRR"/"Lines East" or "Pennsylvania Lines"/"Lines West"
during this period. Equipment assigned to Lines East had PRR reporting
marks, while equipment assigned to Lines West had Pennsylvania Lines (PL)
reporting marks or reporting marks of predecessor roads. After release from
government control, the railroad abolished this organization in favor of
four regions reporting to a central headquarters in Philadelphia.
