Evan & Folks,
I remember that layout well enough and have a few slides around here
somewhere from the 1970's. If I recall correctly, the scenery was quite well done
and the overall display was very attractive.
Something not as well remembered about the Franklin Institute crossed my
mind just the other day. Back in the 1950's when I was a school kid, the
institute had a series of 'shadow box'-like displays of PA industries and
commercial activities. The scale had to be HO and the various modeled sites included
waterfront scenes, mines, factories and mills, farms, etc. None of them were
overly large, perhaps in the order of 3 by four feet or so (hard to tell 50
years later) but they left a lasting impression on me. I wonder if anyone else
recalls these? If so, please share whatever info you might have.
Thanks and regards,
Barry Peltier
