[PRR-talk] Interesting N2sa Variations

Bruce,

One thought is to make a mold of the old WMC brass N2sa firebox, but I think
the shape and blending with the sides (plus its cab) do not look quite
right. I rebuilt one's belpaire with styrene and epoxy and added a plastic
USRA cab since the original didn't look right, either. These were common
faults of "BC (before computers early brass locos.

Another thought: John Sauers and Carey Hinch built and N2sa in brass (O
SCALE TRAINS, NOV/DEC 2003, available at
http://www.oscalemag.com/docs/ost_11.pdf ). There is a template for bending
the Belpaire firebox from sheet brass (at "half O scale) that could easily
be scaled up to HO. His completed model looks right and has a long tender.

Ryan,

I've given up waiting <G> I have 2 plans for modifying my Walthers
loco. The first, as I noted in a previous email is to use styrene.
Gary Mittner suggest that this could be done by making several
styrene contour pieces and then wrapping them in thin styrene sheet,
basically like the prototype.

Alternatively, I have thought about making a rubber mold using a
Belpaire section and then casting the Belpaire in resin. To do that
I would need a Belpaire to use to make the mold - any ideas?

Regards
Bruce
