David,

    I have a single bullseye marker as well and mine is a relatively
clean sample. Not rough as you describe yours. Of course the mounting
bracket isn't present as it was probably left on the boiler, but it
still displays well.  Please do give us a photo of your tombstone
marker. I am assuming this is a cast iron piece?  Yes, the "tombstone"
markers predated the bullseyes.
