Simple - foreign road cars from western connections, and the railroad lived
with the older cars until the rebuilt cars came into service.  Finding out
exactly what cars ran on PRR stock trains has been an ongoing project that I
haven't been able to unravel - train photos before the rebuilt cars came
into service have been very difficult to find, and individual train
paperwork seems to be non-existent.
