That's my impression as well (that the older cars didn't operate in  
the faster schedules).  However, NF-6 was operating
by 4/56, three years prior to any K9's.  So something was covering  
service in this train.



  "this is the first that I've heard of any leased cars in 1958-59 -
can you cite where you've heard or seen this?"


I recall someone posting a comment to this effect some time back- I  
can't remember enough specifics to make a search of archives worthwhile.
I think the interesting question is, what type of stock cars made up  
NF-6 between 1956 & 1959?
