John, 

Back in 1984 when Dan Cupper and I wrote our book on GG1 No. 4800 I did some research on the G's horn.

Here's what we wrote:
"In an article on horns in the November-December 1974 issue of Extra 2200 South, the voice of the Leslie A-200-156 horn was characterized as the sound of the GG1 and produced a fundamental note of D sharp in the octave below middle C.  This D sharp has a frequency of 155.6 Hz."

I personally would call the the GG1's voice as a low, mellow, distinctive, authoritarian, and somewhat mournful sound.
