John and List, In addition to the 12 First Class trains mentioned below (10 passenger and two mail and express), a quick study of the Arranged Freight Schedule (WR 10/31/66) and a couple of personal lists that came from tower OS data shows 15 freights eastbound and 11 freights westbound. This is a rough list, I haven't really started to flesh out a good symbol list for the Fort Wayne Line. If we make an assumption that this list of freights is "close", then you're looking at 12 First Class and 26 freights in 24 hours, not including locals, extras, etc. Yes sir, the Fort Wayne Line was one busy railroad in 1967. Just prior to removing through freight traffic 1982, Conway was still running about 20-25 trains a day over the line. Hello, In 1967, the last full year the line operated under the PENNSY, there were 5 passenger trains each way between Ft. Wayne and Chicago. There was at least one mail express train each way. ( Operated with passenger crews.) In addition there were also two Valparaiso to Chicago commuter trains each way. I would think that freight traffic would have been heavy also.
