[PRR-talk] ROCKVILLE Tower Kit Project Cancelled

Hi All,
I normally do not get involved with discussion about product and coming from
Down Under and having not seen the presample in question I cannot and will
not comment on the scale of the kits.

The question I ask is what is a manufacturer doing getting involved in
comment and if I am reading correctly holding the modeller to ransom by
cancelling the project and putting on hold any future projects. The modeller
has to remember that no kit can be 100% perfect otherwise you would not even
be able to pick it up it would be so thin. The other thing that gets me
nowdays is the lack of intestinal fortitude of manufactures worldwide to
take on a project unless the modeller promises to finance his efforts and
then and only then will they commence.

I was directed to a site where a manufacture is putting up a proposed
N&W/PRR/B&O H2 3 bay hopper. I have been looking for these for my layout,
then I find that the project may not go ahead, so I go to register for the
project to commit to buy 24 as starters but they want my CC Details before
the whole event has happened. What happens if I kick the bucket, what
happens if they take the money straight away and then go bust, who is the
idiot. Not me they can have their expensive model and I will make my own
pattern and cast as many as I want.
Manufacturers have responsibilities. They want to be in the business get out
there and compete and do not ask the modeller to be your banker. Produce a
good product and the modeller will support you.

I am a manufacturer, www.arkits.com and I would dare not be so bold so as to
threaten my clients. My aim is to work with the modeller or not at all. I
produce kits of rolling stock and a lot more. Take on board what the
modeller has offered and get on with it. If you made a mistake own up to it,
fix it at your expense and get on with the project. This whole argey bargey
can have an on going effect as to the credability of the manufacturer and it
is true "do ten good things and it will take months for it to get around, do
one bad thing and it nowdays only takes seconds to get around" Single out
one group and you will get singled out by all groups.

I have found the best policy now is to shut my mouth and do all my homework
to get it as right as I can, get it tested by a confidant and then get it
out.

If the modeller cannot get what he wants then there is the other
alternative, Scratch build it, and share your experience with friends.

Remember the slogan of Model Railroader "Model Railroading Is Fun".

I am building a layout called "The Sharks Nest". N Scale and even though
there is a reasonable model of RF16 out there I still prefer the old V Line
shell, now Delux Innovations, and what I can do with it rather than buying
the RTR. I am the president of my railroad and I only have to make me happy
and if I share some experience along the way and make someone else happy
"BONUS!!!!!!!!"

I hope that this is the last time I speak in this manner in this forum as I
would rather get on with having fun and when PRR Exchange has something to
say go there and have a look at what is available and do something about it.

This is 2 Jan 2008 and a Happy New Year and Happy Modelling to all.
