[PRR-talk] ROCKVILLE Tower Kit Project Cancelled

Merchandise Service has cancelled plans to produce ROCKVILLE tower in
kit form in N and HO scales.

After extending the reservation period from August 2007 through
December 2007, there simply weren't nearly enough reservations in N
scale.

In HO scale the extended reservation period barely approached the
required point. However, the decision was made to release the model
into production anyway. Then the manufacturer -- The N Scale
Architect -- waffled. They knew back in November 2006 that the tower
no longer stood and that there were no PRR plans available. I had
originally guestimated the footprint dimensions before someone tipped
me off that these dimensions were actually on the interlocking
diagrams. I had only been off a foot or so on either axis. Photos
were provided from all angles and eras.

Now the manufacturer has balked and will not produce the model
without PRR diagrams... having been burned on a previous model (not
produced by Merchandise Service). What I really don't get is that
this is a contract model and it should not matter as there is no risk
to the manufacturer.

The statement "it makes no sense to produce a kit for a group of
modellers that pride themselves on finding even the smallest errors
(within a foot is certainly not close enough !)" sealed the deal.
With barely enough reservations, I cannot warrant researching
production of the project through another manufacturer. NSA was it.
Too bad.
