THORN was a sister to COLA with a similar US&S CTC machine. There's a good picture of the machine up on Wikipedia.

I believe that the second row of buttons may have been for call-on signals.

I've been fancinated with the picture of inside Cola tower in PDY2 (page 34). The CTC console seems to be more complicated than what we see elsewhere. Does anybody have any idea what the 1st row of switches below the model board is (above the 1st row of levers) ? And why are there 2 rows of actuating buttons at the bottom ? The track layout on the right side of the picture looks interesting, is that the yard in Columbia ? Looks like there are at least 2 yard tracks controlled by the operator; something that "experts" said wasn't done !
Anyway, I sure hope that more of these types of pictures and descriptions are saved for future generations.
