Norm,

Here's my guess.

Car classes, it appears to be a B60a because the car has 4-wheel trucks, porthole windows, but a clerestory roof. The second car looks to be a 12-1 Pullman, don't hold me to that nor do I know the exact plan number. 

As for the train. I would concur that it's the Liberty Limited, but would be the 2nd section of the train. The 1st section of the Liberty didn't carry Checked Baggage, so with the presence of the baggage I would imagine this is the 2nd section. Based on my 1944 Official Guide, the 2nd section departed Chicago Union Station at 310 PM.
