Weldon,

All GG1s were originally painted DGLE when built.  In 1952 4908-4913 were
repainted in Tuscan with 5 stripes (gold or dulux gold... it isn't clear).
 In 1953 #s 4856, 4857, 4876 & 4929 were painted Tuscan with 5 stripes
(dulux gold).  Around 1955, #s  4907 and 4916 were painted Tuscan single
stripe.  All of these were repainted back to DGLE in the late 1950s.  The
reason for the Tuscan paint was to match the Tuscan cars for a more
uniform, "modernized" look.  Finally in 1977, #4877 was painted in Tuscan
5 stripe by NJ transit.
