Bill,

By the '60's or even by the late '50's which I am modeling, they were  
generally not regularly assigned to east-west trains any more.
They did however show up as extra cars- I'm seen them listed in  
"General" and "Spirit" consists, & even recall a mid-60's "Broadway"  
consist that showed one.

At the link below, you can see a couple of them in service in  
specials for the Army-Navy game of 11/64.
