[PRR-talk] 1938 "County" sleepers- skirting removed by '50's?

Hi Fred--I think you would be right on with partial skirts between the 
trucks, full skirts at the ends.  These cars would have been treated like 
any other of the pre-war lightweights.  Do you have "Volume 2:  Sleepers" by 
Liljestrand and Sweetland?  There are two photos of  COUNTY cars, one in 
1948, the other in 1968.  The 1948 shot is of ALLEGHENY COUNTY with partial 
skirts.  Interestingly, it is still in FOM paint.  The car in the 1968 photo 
has all the skirts stripped off except at the car ends.

Have you considered using a Walthers car for the core?  I did several L&N 
cars with LH sides for a friend here, and they came out very well.  If you 
tell LH which core you are using, he will cut the sides to exactly the right 
length.  Also how much of the skirts you want.
